Spiders
Okay.... the word "internet" is derived from "network", a group of communication devices that are interconnected by wires. It would resemble a fishing net, or as Webster would put it: a mosquito net. The concept of a world wide web is based on a spider web - communication lines radiating out of central "hubs". In actuality, it is a little bit of both - nets AND webs. However, Webster feels more at home calling it "THE WEB".
