The Difference Between
the JD 50 and the JD 60

The John Deere 50 and 60      It is quite obvious that the John Deere 60 is bigger than the John Deere 50. What if you came across just ONE of them with no decals on it? With no way to judge relative size, how would you tell which one it is?

The John Deere 50 and 60      The same is true of the difference between the tractors of the next series - the 620 and the 520, and also between the 630 and the 530. From a distance how would you tell which ONE you are looking at?

The belt pulley on the 50, 520 and 530 is smaller than the belt pulley on the 60, 620 and 630. But once again, looking at ONE tractor - smaller than WHAT??

The pulley on the 50, 520 and 530 is not much wider than its own diameter. It measures 9 1/2" in diameter by 7 1/4". If you can't get close enough to measure it, look closely at the cover. It has a bevel. What if the cover is GONE? Notice that the adjusting bolts protrude beyond the width of the belt face. THAT is the reason for the bevel.

It measures 12 1/2" in diameter by 7 1/2". If you can't measure it, look at the cover. It is flat. What if the cover is GONE? Notice that the adjusting bolts DO NOT protrude beyond the width of the belt face. A flat cover will cover them.
