"Goodnight My Love"

Will you come and tuck me in?     Well, the party is over and I'm all ready for bed. All I need is for YOU to come over here and tuck me in. "Goodnight My Love" is very often requested as the "last dance" at parties and dances. You can see WHY when you read the lyrics. Everybody knows the song, but curiously enough, no artist ever had a big hit with it. It was first recorded in 1955 by Jesse Belvin, and it didn't ever make the top 40 on the charts in "Billboard" magazine. (Or perhaps there WEREN'T any charts yet) The McGuire Sisters recorded it in 1957 and reached number 32 on the charts. The Fleetwoods also charted 32 with the song in 1963. Paul Anka had slightly better luck in 1969 when he reached number 27 with his recording.

Goodnight my love;
Pleasant dreams and sleep tight my love.
May tomorrow be sunny and bright
and bring you closer to me...

Before you go;
There's just one thing I'd like to know,
Is your love still warm for me,
Or has it grown cold?

If you should awake in the still of night
Please have no fear.
For, I'll be there; you know I care;
Please give your love to me, Dear, only...

Goodnight my love;
Pleasant dreams, sleep tight my love.
May tomorrow be sunny and bright
and bring you closer to me...

If you should awake in the still of night
Please have no fear.
For, I'll be there; you know I care;
Please give your love to me, Dear, only...

Goodnight my love;
Pleasant dreams, sleep tight my love.
May tomorrow be sunny and bright
and bring you closer to me...

Goodnight....
