The breakwater protects the Port of Victoria from heavy waves. It is a HUGE masonry structure constructed on a foundation made entirely of stone blocks. The Egyptians would be PROUD of us!!

The breakwater has no railing, but it is wide enough to provide a safe walk all the way out to the lighthouse on the end. Access is limited only by a gate (seen below) that can be closed after sunset and during "heavy" weather.
