A Trip to the Dump

Terrace BC
So... We decided to go to the dump, seeing as it was snowing and there was nothing else to do anyway. This is Old Lakelse Road, the route to the Thornhill Landfill. This is not a little "back road". It's the old highway to Kitimat, fully paved with a full lane in either direction. Turns, out, when we got there the dump was closed! But, we DID read the sign that displayed the "open' hours.

Terrace BC
So... The next day we tried again. Seeing as it was STILL snowing and there was nothing else to do anyway.

Terrace BC
What a surprise, eh! Not a seagull in sight. The dump was populated by BUZZARDS! Wait a minute, those aren't vultures. The little black ones are ravens (bigger than any crows I have ever seen). At first I thought the guy at the lower left was a buzzard, but maybe not.

Terrace BC
We're not talking about telephoto lenses here. This is how close we got. I had a fleeting thought that they might attack us.

Terrace BC
No, he's not a buzzard at all.

Terrace BC
He's an immature bald eagle.

Terrace BC
And this is his DAD.
