There's the numberPay Attention!!!
Hi Jerry,
NOPE... You can't always tell what model the tractor is from the serial number. Many of the tractors use the same sequence of numbers, say from 1000 to whatever. However, the serial number tag usually TELLS you what model the tractor is. If it doesn't, go to the ID pages and FIND your tractor: HERE. Once you know what model you have, you can Email me the serial number and I'll look it up for you and tell you what year your tractor was built.

Serial Number Plate     Where can you FIND the serial number tag?? On the "unstyled" Model B tractors the tag is found on the left, or flywheel side of the tractor. It's on the SIDE of the transmission case, in the FRONT corner. You can't MISS it!!.

On the "styled" Model B's and many of the other early tractors, the serial tag is found on the TOP of the main case, under the magneto as shown below...

Serial Number Plate
On OTHER models of two-cylinder tractors, the serial number plate might be located in another spot, usually on the main case. On the Model M you'll find it on the dashboard. On the Model L, it is on the back of the rear axle. On some of the tractors that have a driveshaft, the tag is on the bell housing or on the side of the engine. Just look around; it's about the size of a business card. You'll FIND it!!
