The John Deere Model R

The John Deere Model R tractor
The John Deere Model R      The R was John Deere's first diesel tractor. It was also the LAST "Letter Series" tractor to be introduced, in 1949. It has the same vertical style grill as the "First Number Series". It is basically the same tractor as the next Model, the 80. The best way to tell them apart is, the R has a ROUND flywheel cover and the 80 has a TEARDROP shaped flywheel cover like the 820 and the 830. All of these tractors, from the R to the 830, were only available as diesels with a "Standard" front end.

The John Deere R
This Model R was at the Connecticut Antique Machinery Association show in Kent, Connecticut in 2000.
